Late last year I met with a client that had a little red book for his payroll records. You did not read that wrong, it is 2018 and he still had a little red book! He used the PAYE calculator provided by the IRD online, but he only used it for the first pay run and then put the staff wages on Automatic Payment with the bank.
He got my number off a friend of his, because he got stuck trying to work out Annual and Sick leave balances for his staff. I didn’t even ask after I saw that little red book….
He is very old school, technology is daunting, but he realised that he needs to find a better way, and you know what I always say, there is always a better way…
